...Something like this happens? This is a natural spring fed pond, very tiny but in the spring time it is full of tadpoles and froggies, lots of critters come to drink here. Right now it is slightly frozen, with these frozen circles on top.
Does anyone have an idea how these circles are created... from underneath or from above?
This may be the most beautiful & serene thing I have seen winter make so far. Yep, even more then all the ice sculptures.

wow that is beautiful!
all I can think is that perhaps it happened during freezing rain... the ice surface looks textured like from freezing rain and perhaps drops falling from branches fell and made the circles and then it froze quickly?
it does seem like there are more drops below where there are more branches.
whatever the cause, it's AWESOME!!! thank you for sharing it :) I love nature!
Thanks Liberty for your comment, i was kinda thinking the same thing about the drips, but it is so hard for me to comprehend how is frozen slowly and made those frozen circle. So Awesome!
