The Road Outta Here: New Home Wish List

Ok, I am going to share something woo woo with ya'll, something that I do every time I have moved for the last 4 years and it has never failed to work...word for word. It's the power of the list!
It all started out as a way to organize my housing needs and have fun with my imagination, but then it turned out I got everything (I mean everything!) on my list - within a few days I would find a new place or solution and get out of housing limbo & on the road.
So now I am on list number...(hmm) 5, and here it is:

1. Lots of windows
2. forest to play in (10 acres or more with surrounding wooded properties)
3. creek/drinkable water/spring
4. chemical free/ safe for MCS/ wood floors
5. hot water (solar preferably)
6. cool neighbors who are nice, friendly and eco
7. cheap payments under $300 a month
8. easy to get to for people to visit me
9. in a pure clean area
10. own or rent to own
11. place for my donkey and animals
12. spot to grow a sustainable amount of organic food
13. sunny!
14. no mold problems/ leaks
15. wood stove (for heat and cooking)/ good secondary source of heat
16. i can stay for years and years or a lifetime if i want :)

YOUR TURN! Make your dream home list in the comments section (you might say something I forgot and can add to my list)!!!
XoXo

If I ask for it to be warmer here, does that mean I'm responsible for global warming? :)

YES! ha ha. I don't know about asking for massive weather pattern changes, ;) ... i think in that case you have to modify your list to something like "new location, warmer year round"...Madagascar or another island perhaps?

Have you considered Earthaven?

Hey Paul V -
Have you ever been there to visit? I have not been there before... I did apply to work/live at the LBEEC (enviro education center) here in Big Sandy Mush and have been waiting to hear something back on details.
My only concern with Earthaven was that it might be way more drum circle crowd (I am not a fan of the drum circle)... I saw they liked those on their website. ;)

On A Limb Claudia -
Thanks! I bet you make lists too!

I know this is an old post, but I get super excited about houses (sustainable ones anyway) so I'll throw up a few things that I'd love in a house : )

- To be involved in the planning & building
- Build using natural, sustainable materials (I like cob)
- Passive solar (nice big north facing windows :)
- Kick-ass grey water & water recycling systems
- A rocket stove!
- Big (cob) hand sculpted built-in couch <3
- Indoor planter (like in earthships)
- Acreage for Organic gardens & food forest + room to play :D
- A natural pool!
- An outdoor sleeping platform (with fly screen to protect from biting bugs :<
- Nooks & maybe a loft to hide in & nap
- Eventually be self sufficient in food, water & power
- A good bathtub, possibly also sculpted with rocks an stuff, something reminiscent of a Japanese onsen or something...
- Sliding doors & windows (I have some kind of infatuation with slidy things)

Anyway, I could crap on about my ideal house pretty much forever, it's something I've been dreaming about for a looooong time...

Hope you find yours [: )
