You Burn Bras, I Burn Panties

For the last week, I have been taking a antibiotic called "Flagyl".... it kills protozoa. While raging through the waves of illness and side effects to the drugs - i decided to take the time to test out my skills at being OCD. I am not so good at it, but i have mopped my floors about 4 times this week (more then i usually do all year), i have washed clothes, scrubbed the tub and sinks several times, i have taken everything out cabinets and wiped them down. Soon i will do a second round on cleaning out the composting toilet (supremely unpleasant now!)

Then as a final anti-parasite ritual (with practical purpose) i decided to buy all new underwear and burn the hell out of the pairs i have been wearing since i got sick.
Wasteful? yeah.... well, so are sick people who use tons of toilet paper, medicines, resources, and waste away doing nothing but being ill ---- and i dont want to re-infect myself, or some other person. My panties were the main thing i own that could questionably harbor the parasite because i don't have a dryer to high heat kill them, and with the summer humidity I can't quite get anything "dry" around here.
So BURNNNnnn bayb burn. Sorry panties.

The antibiotics have halted the diarrhea finally....but it's not like I went back to normal, because with all the other symptoms the pills cause i don't know left from right.
It's akin, to being a zombie, who has demons exercised out ya body, with sick gaggable nausea, headaches, stiff neck, and sleepy brain... with a side order of cramps, paranoia, confused/disjointed thoughts, and jumpy body parts. WTF. Oh and i can't go in the sun at all!!!
Vampire maker pills!

Things I Do (think & find) While It's Snowing

See me there in the pic above... I know it's hard to tell because my alpaca wool gloves are so hairy and thick, but I am shooting my middle finger up at the snowing sky. Fu@k this winter! Me and Snow, I don't know if we can be friends anymore... they are being a little clingy since like December, coming over too much, always hanging around my house like a stalker, ruining my plans, just plain smothering me. They scare away the animals too, and that's just messed up. Basically the snow is an emotionally abusive co-dependent self absorbed freak, only good for magically fertilizing the earth with rich nutrients.

I was thinking this morning as I woke up to more snow, that a great horror film (yet to be made) would be an Alfred Hitchcock style suspense thriller called "SNOW"... the plot would be simple: Snow keeps on comin' down, at first they predict 10 feet, but it dumps 100's of feet burying everything alive - people would live their last days under tunnels of white they can never dig out of.

um.... anyway... so while it is snowing I found these two things that are aestheically nice and nothing I need. Only want.

Organic Cotton PANTIE & BRA SET! yeah, it's hawtness - and normally yellow bothers me but right now yellow is looking like fun in the hot sun. :) You can click the link or the pic to see more organic cotton goodness.
Vintage OWLS! I have a thing for owls. Ever since one came and lived in my wood stove a few years ago I have been loving owls, especially the screech owl. I had named him Scratchy and when he died, i clipped his wings to keep and buried the rest of his body in front the cabin.

PS- those black owls pictured are at my friend's vintage store on Etsy, called SOUGHT. Remember when I wrote about a woman named "Sandy" who wanted to F' the president... that's her. I don't think she wants to F' him anymore, but i'm not sure.

DIY: Turn Boring Organic Panties Into Cuties!

I love panties... a long long time ago before I knew about slave made fashion I would buy new panties rather then drag my giant dirty clothes bag to the skanky crowded laundry mat in NYC. One of my favorite pairs was a "days of the week" pantie called "foxy friday" with a little red fox running across. Those days (and panties) are long gone - but my love for a foxy pair of skivvies is not. Here is a simple way to spice up a boring pair of organic undies... All you need is a pair of undies, scrap fabric, needle, thread, scissors, paper, pen and a silhouette of the applique you want.
Once you cut out the shape you want to add to your panties you can trace it onto the fabric and cut out your applique.
You can sew more then one design on too, and make a whole scene... :) - I stuck with just the fox sneaking along the seam line.
Hand sew the fabric shape onto the panties with thread and needle (unless you are so super skilled at running something that small under your sewing machine needle.)
Now that is cute and crafty! Yay! xoxo

Organic Panties Make the Perfect Gift

I used to think possibly I was the only one who wanted panties for every single holiday, but Christmas at The Oko Box last year told me different. Giving the gift of undies is the perfect holiday present, that can be given with multiple meanings - I mean, how many gifts can be given by your mom or boyfriend and take on such a different feeling! Thus making it an incredible and usually affordable holiday gift!
You can get dye free organic cotton basics starting at under $20, Ecoland and The Organic Cotton Company provide luxuriously clean & pristine panties, bra and undershirts perfect for those avoiding chemicals & frilly stuff.
One step above basics, are the comfy skivvies that come with adorable and sexy flare - cute lace & deep beautiful colors - the price tag for the set is a little higher at approximately $60, but stays in an affordable range. The hottest part of these (pictured above and below) is they are made locally with locally woven organic cotton and each piece is made to order, cutting out manufacturing waste!
Now we've moved into a level I would call eco lingerie - best given as a gift to your lover or to yourself (maybe not so good to get from a relative! ew!) There are several designs of Clare Bare eco lingerie that are the MOST affordable sets on the market! These beauties have retro flare, artistic quality, ruffles, frills and the kind of cuteness that makes it a top seller to many male customers for their special lady love. Prices start as low as $24 !!!
Enamore eco luxury lingerie - this is the highest level of sinfully sexy gift giving, and will top out as the highest priced starting at $64 for a pair of the luscious knickers. Personally, it doesn't matter who gives this to you, just take it and love the hell out of it (and vice versa, give it to anyone and everyone)! They are beautiful, flawlessly made, fabulous eco fabrics, and designed to last year after year - the fun never runs out. Enamore makes investment pieces that retain a classic pin up style that will never be outdated in your lifetime. So do indulge.
Find these styles and much more at The Oko Box!

Enamore Organic Lingerie Coming To The Oko Box

Enamore has to be my absolute favorite eco lingerie designer ever to exist, hands down. I own two lingerie sets by Enamore and they are my most treasured, loved, and favorite planet powered purchase - plus the quality and design are so fantastic, it made it worth every penny. This is the kind of eco lux lingerie you dream of your lover getting you, but if they wait too long you'll be buying some for yourself instead (like I did) because it's too hard to resist.
So here's the super dee duper good news that has had me bursting all week: Enamore's eco luscious lingerie is going to be available at The Oko Box starting September 1st 2008!!! This may seem like an early announcement but this is the perfect amount of time to start saving up either for yourself or someone you love- there will be vibrant pieces this fall & winter with plenty delicious reds, sultry blacks, flirty whites, and sexy patterns for holidays, anniversaries, your wedding night & honeymoon. Or make this gorgeous organic lingerie an excuse to turn an ordinary night into your own private celebration!
Here's some background info about eco desginer Jenny of Enamore (whom I heart!):
"Enamore is an Eco fashion label creating garments made from the finest organic and sustainable fabrics including hemp, cotton, bamboo, soya and silk sourced from accredited suppliers. Enamore supports local manufacturing and all current ranges are designed and produced in Bath, Wales and London. Enamore began in the seaside city of Brighton, UK during 2004 founded by Jenny Ambrose. The brand was born out of the designer’s love for vintage sewing patterns and charismatic floral prints. Jenny’s vision was to create beautiful, playful and quirky garments from organic fabrics and vintage materials, after discovering the damaging effects of fashion industry to our environment. The collection has now evolved beyond expectation offering a diverse collection of organic lingerie with a new twist on the modern Pin Up. Jenny is also involved in projects such as BBC Blast and the ‘Make Your Mark in Fashion’ competition to inspire young people to think about where their clothing comes from and to consider future careers in sustainable design. Enamore has been featured on BBC2’s ‘Working Lunch’, ITV’s ‘This Morning’ and ‘LK Today’ as well as editorial and product features in The Observer, The Guardian, The Telegraph, Cosmopolitan, Domino, Marie Claire and many more respected publications."
