Hey! Here is a video of my new eco savvy paper making project- I took old junk mail that is overflowing my recycle bin and tore by hand/cut it up into tiny little bitty pieces to make new art paper with. I wanted my paper to be pretty thick and textured, so that I could paint easily with my Poke Berry paints.
The video will show you the easy steps you can take to making some of your own eco art paper right at home for free!
XoXo
Leslie, You should use your artist (saying this with French accent) skills and that paper to market hand made eco friendly invitations and cards and such.
ReplyDeleteHey Gretta!
ReplyDeleteThanks :) I want to perfect it a little- some people use blenders to mix the paper up but I am experimenting with seeing how long it takes on it's own to melt... so i don't have to use any machines/electric - making it less involved or impactful a process.
Everyday it gets more melty :)
this is very neat!
ReplyDeletedid you find yourself reacting at all to the inks, chlorine etc in the junk mail paper as it got wet?
I find those things way worse when wet.
I've been wanting to make my own paper for a while so thank you for this post :-)
Hey Liberty!
ReplyDeleteAlot of time magazine ink makes me sick, no matter what - i always pile that stuff in a box outside. I found that in direct sunlight the paper stunk when i was cutting it up and when getting wet, it kind of was making me feel sickish to smell it- but i hardly had to be around it except to put it in the screen and i didnt let the water touch my hands.
That is the one draw back about this project - where do you put the water that turns toxic? It seems like there is no way to dispose of it properly without harming something.
BTW- once the paper dried I didnt find myself reacting to the new paper - maybe some of the chems wento ut in the water?
