Light Yellow Fuzzy Caterpillar

Wooook at dis' little fuzzy caterpillar I found in my garden! Everytime I find one, it's some new fabulous color, with another neato texture of fur... or is it such thin spikes it looks like fuzz? Deceiving? When I played with the branch it was climbing on it froze and didn't move a muscle (or suction cup foot). But once I put it back down it got right back to what it had been doing before...
There is hardly a thing cuter then the feet of a caterpillar... possibly a new born kitten or something else with adorable hairy bodies and padded feet - but just barely. ;)

  1. Something else like... you, maybe? 'Cause you're like an überhippie n' all. Honestly, you're much more of a true hippie (expression of an era aside) than all of these hippie-fashion types I see, because you actually walk the talk.

I often wonder how people name bugs. I mean, where the heck is the resemblance to a tiger here? Unless it's behavior... nope, that can't be it. I give up. You know, sooner or later you're going to discover an unknown critter, and you'll get to name it. I recommend using one of google's "word verification" words. Right now I'm about to type "ginglate." If only I can just find a bug with bad teeth from too many coffee drinks.

  2. Hey Gratuitous-

Don't tell people I am a granola cruncher... ha ha... I don't even eat granola. ;)

IS the name of this caterpillar a "Tiger"? It didn't act like a tiger, but maybe some really imaginative and dorky entomologist (while drinking a cup of coffee I am sure) was all hyped up and said "It's like a little tiger, a yellow tiger mane!"
I hope I do get to name my own bug - in fact considering the good names I came up with for most of my cats, I can't wait.

  3. Yeah, the tiger moth caterpillar. And no, the adult moth looks nothing like a tiger, even and albino one. Dammit.
