HUGE Ass Bug! Whoa...

When this big bug entered my bedroom, i seriously thought it was a giant Louisiana cockroach at a glance..... fast moving, brown, huge, with those roachy legs!
Then it jumped in bed with me... omGAwd. Now i am not a bug-phobe as ya'll know, but this thing was making crunching noises and sounded like it was the size of mouse coming towards me. It kept crawling under my covers and under my pillow.....
since i don't usually sleep with strangers, i told him to get out of my bed.
It moved fast and furious, i could hardly get a good picture of it. And i could tell, this bug had bigger brains then most insects. It seemed to know things....
It's called the Palo Verde Root Borer .... a big name for a big boy. :)

Female Rhinoceros Beetle? Help Me ID this bug!

Last year I had the awesome opportunity to see a male rhino beetle when Bort literally paid a few $bucks$ to some girls at a grocery store who were holding the strange giant bug in a cup and giggling around it at the check out counter. (I gotta say this might be one of the top most thoughtful/romantic gifts given to me in my life!) ;)
Well, after bringing that BIG huge HORNED bad boy into the house suddenly another beetle appeared ... one that was without horn but was quite large and similar coloring. The male had called in tha' ladies!
Last night, I found a beetle in the Luck Cabin crawling on the floor, a beetle that reminded me of the female rhino beetle from last summer! It looks very similar, if not exactly alike - but I am having a hard time finding a positive ID on this buggie online (ya know cause the internet is saturated with info now to the point of insanity!)
WHat do ya'll think? Will she attract a big horned monster into my presence? I could only hope.

BTW :::: Fun fact about the Rhino Beetle is it will eat fruit and maple syrup! And you can keep them as "pets".

GIGANTIC Horned & Spotted Beetle!

Holy Toodles! This is hands down the largest beetle I have ever laid my eyes upon... I didn't even think they got this big around here, this is the stuff of Madagascan jungles!!! I have to admit right from the start I didn't find this one on my own, my nature BFF Bort was in the Ingles Grocery check out line when he noticed some cashiers giggling at something in a coffee cup - when he got a look at the monstrously huge bug he offered a dollar to buy it, but the girl insisted it was worth more, they cut a final deal at 3$ - and he brought the Cup O' Bug to me!!!
Check out that fabu little smile he's got there - sly, smurfy, handsome and clever. The cashiers, me and Bort all assumed this smart beetle was on it's last leg, poor guy, he seemed so slow and almost dead. He was giving very little response and it's huge hook claws seemed to be limp with despair. It was almost a tear jerker.OH but no! This beetle is a great actor! Playing oppossum and then coming alive at night - I thought this was going to be his last breathe...until...
PARTY TIME!
Hanging out with famous actors such as Gumby, The Last Unicorn, and Polly Pocket...
well on his way to the red carpet, and obviously a ladies man! He's a beetle with ambition - he sends his love to Britney Spears, whom he claims he's had crush on since forever (no offense Polly Pocket). :)
:::::::::EXCLUSIVE BEHIND THE SCENES!:::::::::::
Stage prep, lighting, and chillin' with the supa' stars. When we asked Mr. Big Beetle what it was like talking with such famous toys he said "It was electrifying, but in the end they are just real people like you and me and that's what was the coolest. Polly Pocket was just as beautiful in real life as she is in the box at Toys R Us." This beetle knows how to talk the talk and walk the walk... in fact he just went ahead and walked right out of my room last night.
Bye bye Ya'll!!!!

Name This (Big & Imposing) Beetle

This is the kind of insect that inspires artists like Jim Henson to create amazing creatures for their movies, like The Dark Crystal. This beetle sort of appeared in my bedroom with a sudden thud on the floor... it was so HUGE laying there on it's back, I didn't hesitate to pick it up and place him on wooden clothes pin to get a better look. And Holy Toodles, this beetle not only is amazing to look at (stripes, armour, built like a tank) but it's packed with personality too! If the county would allow him to do so, he would totally apply for his own library card.
Welcome to Beetle Theatre, where tonight's topic is: Why Does this Human Not Leave Me Alone? ;)
.... I promise that he's not on a broadway stage, it's just my bath towel, a clothespin and lamp.
What a fantastic, outrageous, expressive face it has - in this very last picture he was feeling timid and afraid because my cat was being her instinctual poohead self and gave him a little slap. He recoiled in a way I have never seen an insect quite do, it was very animal and awesome.
