Happy 2009!

To start off the new year with a self loving bang, I am going to leave a quote here from Pema Chodron ( an American Buddhist Nun).

"Just as a jewel that has been buried in the earth for a million years is not discolored or harmed, in the same way this noble heart is not effected by all of our kicking and screaming. The Jewel can be brought out into the light at any time, and it will glow as brilliantly as if nothing had ever happened. No matter how committed we are to unkindness, selfishness, or greed, the genuine heart cannot be lost. It is here in all that lives, never marred and completely whole."

I think when we love ourselves, then we extend that kindness to others... not just humans but to the entire eco system we are a part of. Don't forget the jewel inside yourself and all around you!

  1. Thanks for that quote.

Pema wrote one of the most helpful books I've ever read: The Places That Scare You -
A Guide to Fearlessness in Difficult Times.

    Happy New Year!

One of my favorite books for hard times is Pema Chodron's When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times. Love her teachings so much.

  6. Leslie, I love what you've said about loving ourselves! I agree that we start there, then we can love people around us, the earth, all of nature....it makes such perfect sense. I think if we look around us we can easily see what's happened...people do not love themselves!!! Thanks and have a bodaciously great new year!!!!
    Hugs,
    Ruth
